This was taken a few years ago during one of my many trips to the highlands to escape the blazing heat in the city.
I was drawn to this flower because of the pink streaks on its petals and I thought the water droplets and flies added character. I am still amazed at how sharp the image is considering it was made with a smartphone with no special macro lens – I just moved in really close.

- Photograph flowers on an overcast day.
- Watch out for wind.
- Avoid a cluttered background.
- Use a shallow depth of field.
- Change your point of view.
